Casual Only Exists Outside of Commitment

I only applied to one college. I was very casual about the whole process while my classmates were patently freaking out.

(I didn’t want to go to college, I wanted to go to cosmetology school. My Mom forbid it. And she was scary about it.)

Had my Mom said it was alright for me to go to cosmetology school, however, I would have been ALL. OVER. IT.

I would have researched which were the best ones. I would have applied all over the country. I would have worked out a way to go out of state even though we had no money.

I know because I later did this with video production (the passion I found while at stupid college)

When I’m committed, I am not casual.

Casual, it logically follows, exists outside of commitment.

So every time I come to a meeting with a potential client, and I act casual about it, I’m not actually committed to anything (other than perhaps comfort).

And if I take a look, there are a lot of places in life where I’m casual.

Nothing wrong with it. It just exists outside of my bigger commitments. And when I’m committed, I am a force to be reckoned with.

I bet you are too. I bet you can think of times in your life when you were not going to let a damn thing get in the way of what you wanted.

Think of something you want right now, but you’re letting a lot of damn things get in the way. Convincing yourself that your circumstances are real (like lack or time, money, energy).

Check in… what are you actually committed to?

Comfort? (keeping others happy, not rocking the boat, avoiding discomfort, Netflix and your couch)

Or something else?

And what do you REALLY want to be committed to?
